Tell me about your travel background…

I studied Travel and Tourism for two years at college, and then started as a trainee at Harvey World Travel in Attleborough. After that, I took a small gap from travel before coming to work at the Travel Centre Wymondham shop – I have now been here for five years.

What do you love about working in the travel industry?

“I love working in travel as every day is different - you never know what somebody is going to ask you for. I enjoy seeing people get excited about their holidays and hearing about what a great time they had when they return. I also love getting to know my customers really well, understanding what their likes and dislikes are and building up a very solid repeat customer base.”

Most memorable destinations?

Majorca, Menorca, Costa Brava, Costa Del Sol, Disneyland Paris and Disneyland Florida, Tunisia, Turkey, Egypt, Dubai, Mexico, The Azores & Djerba - I have been to Tunisia, Turkey & Egypt a couple of times each.

Favourite holiday destination?

“Mexico was an amazing trip. There are beautiful beaches to be explored, clear blue sea, great food, lovely people and lots to do. You would never get bored in Mexico, but at the same time, it can be as relaxing as you want it to be.”

Favourite travel memory:

“I have lots of great memories; it’s hard to pinpoint one in particular. My first one would be in Dubai - going to the top of the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building) and looking out over the city. Such a breath-taking view! The second one is Mexico and going to Xplor; an adventure park that has zip lines, amphibious vehicles, swimming and rafting through ancient caves. I remember being so scared of doing the zip lines as they were so high up, but it was the most exhilarating thing I have ever done and the views above the trees were amazing. Oh and of course swimming with dolphins in Mexico too!”

Top Travel Tip?

“Pre-book your excursions and sightseeing tours before you travel. If you want to go to the top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, get there early in the morning - otherwise the queues are horrendous and it gets far too hot.”
