Tell me about your travel background

"I've always been in Travel – I previously worked for a travel company in Sawston for around five years, then I joined Premier Travel over 20 years ago – I started at Rose Crescent branch in Cambridge and then moved over to what was Drummer Street branch, I've since moved around the Cambridge, Saffron Walden and Royston branches but I'm now mainly based at St Ives as Senior Branch Support Supervisor."

Why do you love working in travel?

"Originally I was going to be a policeman but found travel along the way doing work experience and never looked back. I love meeting lots of different people and travelling to lots of new places, I love sending people to new destinations so that I can learn about them too! It's a really fun job to do."

Where have you travelled to

"Australia, Bali, Thailand, Singapore, Dubai, South Africa (three times), North and West Coast Africa, Egypt, Florida, The States, I've cruised to the Caribbean islands (inc. Barbados, St Thomas, St Martins, amongst others), I've been to the Channel Islands, France, the Greek islands, Turkey, Mallorca, Tunisia - in fact, most of Europe; including cruises with P&O and Fred. Olsen and I've also been skiing in Italy a few times!"

Where are you off to next?

"California Cliffs in the UK on a family holiday; have been once this year already, and the kids love it!"

Travel wish list

"I would love to get to South and Central America – it looks incredible and I've heard amazing reviews. I'd also love to do a Norwegian Fjords cruise, for the scenery.  Also, Japan – I know their lifestyle is so different to our, I'd like to compare first hand"

Favourite holiday destination and why?

"South Africa - I've always said never go same place twice, and I haven't except South Africa! I love everything about it, Cape Town felt like home – I felt like I could live there and stay forever. There's so many different parts to it, the wine region, garden route and the game parks are all amazing to do, and Durban has amazing beaches and is also great for bird watching. Jersey is my other favourite because it's so relaxing and easy when you're there, it's beautiful and the people are friendly – you only need a small car to get around and I went for my 40th too, so it holds great memories."

Favourite travel memory and why?

"Skiing in Italy around and six years ago, we went to the mountains of Northern Italy in a group and that's where I met my wife to be – or should I say she was lucky enough to meet me!"

When I book a holiday for a customer, I always

"…make sure I see the booking right through to the end – If I've made a booking and the customer comes back in to the branch, I'll make sure to always follow up with them and find out how their trip went – If I don't see them in person then I'll call them to ask them over the phone".

Top Travel Tip?

"Try and get a real feel for the country you're in. Eat local food from some of the street food markets, chat to the locals and embrace the culture."
