At 15 I had two weeks work experience with Allen Sturgess Travel in Huntingdon, and knew then that travel was exactly what I wanted to do. Then in March 1996 I started at Thomas Cook on Huntingdon High Street as a trainee, (working Saturday’s until finishing my exams) and then became a full time Sales Consultant in June 1996. I left in December 1999 to join my husband in his business and to raise and extend our family, I then returned to travel when I joined Premier Travel in Huntingdon in January 2015 and have been here ever since!
It’s a really nice thing to sell, who doesn’t love holidays? I don’t even mind that they’re not mine! What I love is that no two customers’ needs are the same, and no two days are ever the same. It can be anything from booking National Express Coach tickets to tailor made, round the world Itineraries and once in a lifetime experiences, with everything as exciting in between. I love that our customers are trusting me and the knowledge of our branch when organising and planning their lifetime memories.
City breaks to Dublin, Cardiff, Paris, Rome, Hamburg and New York, holidays to Majorca, Ibiza, Disneyland Paris, Costa Almeria, Costa Blanca, Portugal, Crete, Antigua, Egypt and Orlando and an amazing self-drive around California.
Silverstone for the British Grand Prix & New York
I would love to travel around the whole of the USA – the dream is to start in Las Vegas, win big then hire a motorhome and drive around the rest of the states! I’d also really like to go to Thailand – I want to start in Bangkok, visit Elephant Hills and then stay on one of the beautiful beaches. Bora Bora or The Maldives are the dream (I’d love to stay in a beach bungalow or villa) and I think it would be amazing to tour and explore Italy. Last but not least, I want to watch the Monaco Grand Prix from the Café De Paris Balcony!
This is a hard choice, but I’d say it has to be my Honeymoon in California. We only booked two hotels in Los Angeles and San Francisco and treated every day as an adventure with nothing officially booked or planned. We even crossed the border in Mexico to Tijuana for an hour after spending the day in San Diego! Also Orlando, this was our potentially last family holiday as a four. It didn’t matter how old we all were, we fully embraced the magic of Disney and all that Orlando had to offer.
Being taken to the airport by my husband on my birthday with no clue as to where we were going, then arriving at the check in desks to be handed a gift bag with a guide to Rome in – it was perfect! And again Orlando, age really didn’t matter as we celebrated with Disney Characters at breakfast, spent the afternoons on the Rollercoasters at Universal and spent many an evening at different restaurants just chatting.
Orlando – plan and plan again. It’s overwhelming and even if you are there for two weeks you never will see or do everything! I planned for months (my husband and children did laugh at me) but they totally appreciated it all once they were there and what I had booked and organised, as they really made the most of every minute of every day (also make sure you have a day or three off work once home, you’ll be exhausted from all the fun!)
I will always do my upmost to deliver the holiday you want and deserve, which will then lead to fantastic experiences and create amazing memories for you.
An open mind. Try new things, experience different cultures and have no regrets.
