Tell us about your travel background:

I studied Travel & Tourism for two years at college after leaving school. During this time I was fortunate enough to come across Premier Travel, and gained first-hand knowledge of life working for a travel agency when I was offered a work experience placement. I enjoyed it so much that when a full time position became available I applied, and 21 years on, I’m still enjoying working for Premier Travel! I have been lucky enough to work at our offices in Cambridge (Rose Crescent & Bradwells Court) starting as the Coach, Rail & Theatre Sales Consultant; I then progressed to a Travel Consultant role followed by Senior Travel Consultant, before gaining promotion to Assistant Manager in 2003. I then moved over to our Bishops Stortford branch, where I have now been for over four years.

What do you love about working in the travel industry?

Each and every day offers something new and you never know what your next enquiry might be. The challenges involved in making sure an itinerary meets clients exact requirements can be complex, but the feeling you get when everything fits in to place is like no other – a real buzz!

Where have you travelled to?

Sri Lanka, the Seychelles, China, Dubai, Oman, a Caribbean cruise (Barbados, Aruba, Curacao, Antigua & St Lucia), the Norwegian Fjords, Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Sicily, Spain (Costa Blanca & Majorca), Monte Carlo, Paris, Disneyland Paris, Amsterdam, Sorrento & the Amalfi Coast, Skiathos, New York, Budapest, Bruges, Brussels, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Jersey.

Favourite holiday destination & why?

I have a few…. Sri Lanka for the fabulous beaches, stunning scenery, the history, the people who are so friendly, the delicious food on offer and the elephants! My visit to Sri Lanka took me to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, an experience I will never forget. To be able to get close to these amazing creatures was a dream come true. The icing on the cake though was seeing them in the wild at dusk as they took a leisurely stroll, passing us on route to one of our hotels. There must have been about 20 of them and they passed by so gracefully – it brought tears to my eyes. China for the scenery, sights & sounds, the food, the history, the culture and the wildlife. It’s such a diverse country and itineraries can sometimes be quite full on - but it’s so worth it. My holiday to China was an escorted tour, taking in Shanghai, a cruise along the Yangtze River, Xi’an and Beijing. Seeing the Terracotta Warriors and walking on the Great Wall of China were the highlights of the trip. The work carried out to excavate these amazing statues was great to see – row upon row of life size warriors. With so many found in pieces, it must have been pain staking work putting them together again. The Great Wall is China’s most iconic sight and I had such a feeling of achievement as I walked on this amazing structure. The surrounding scenery was spectacular too. New York – the city that never sleeps! Wow, what a destination – it has everything you could want and more. During the day fabulous sightseeing, museums and galleries a plenty to keep the culture vulture in you alive and the opportunity to shop until you drop. By night, restaurants to suit all budgets and an array of entertainment for all, including fabulous Broadway shows. The Norwegian Fjords for the stunning scenery and the peace & tranquillity as you pass by on a cruise. A wonderful part of the world that still manages to retain much of its old-world charm.

Book with me because ….

I will listen to your requirements in order to try and find the right holiday for you. Drawing from personal experiences, I will give advice on where to go, what to see and what to do. Although research can sometimes take a while, nothing is too much trouble and you will come away knowing you can look forward to a fantastic holiday!

Travel Bucket List:

I’m afraid the list gets longer every day but these are at the top …….. For years I have wanted to go to Canada and will get there one day! My ideal trip would be to visit Toronto, then fly west to see the Rockies and end in America with an Alaskan cruise. To see any animals in their natural habitat would be an amazing experience for me, and so a visit to South Africa would be a dream come true. I’d also like to see the Winelands and travel along the Garden Route. I would like to return to China to explore further the places I’ve been to before (Shanghai, Xi’an and Beijing) in addition to a visit to Yangshou, Guilin and Chengdu.

Favourite Travel Memories:

Seeing the elephants from the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage being taken down to the river to bathe and play. They had great fun in the water and watching them was magical. I was lucky enough to go to Monaco on an educational a few years ago, and taking the helicopter transfer from Nice Airport to Monte Carlo was amazing. It was the first time I had been in a helicopter and the journey was so smooth, seeing Monte Carlo from such a vantage point is a view I’ll never forget.

Never Travel Without:

My kindle – hundreds of books at my fingertips that I can take anywhere I go, without having to deal with the weight of them! Getting lost in a good book also helps to pass the hours on a flight.
