Myrkdalen – Norway’s Hidden Ski Gem

7 Nights
Myrkdalen – Norway’s Hidden Ski Gem

Overview

Myrkdalen Hotel

The Myrkdalen Hotel is the focal point of the resort with most of the resort facilities centred around the hotel. For the keen skiers and snowboarders, the slopes and lifts are just behind the hotel so you can be first on and off the mountain each day.

Saltos Lobby Bar on the first floor of the hotel is a lovely spot to unwind with a drink or two before dinner, with cosy seating, a fireplace and large windows overlooking the resort. The food here is not to be missed, half board meals are served at the modern Restaurant Nuten - the menu features locally sourced ingredients inspired by the natural surroundings and with views to the slopes and surrounding mountains it is the perfect spot for dinner. During your stay, you have the opportunity to dine in the two other restaurants once per week - choose between the cosy Nuten Fondue restaurant which serves classic fondue with a variety of meats, bread and vegetables or opt for a tasty stone-baked pizza in Restaurant Tunet.

Skiing in Myrkdalen

Myrkdalen is one of Western Norway's largest ski resorts, offering spacious, uncrowded slopes suitable for all skill levels, along with terrain parks and outstanding off-piste opportunities. The resort is especially great for first-time skiers and snowboarders, there's a dedicated beginner area serviced by a magic carpet and smooth progression to gentle blue runs higher up the mountain. There's a wide variety of well-groomed blue and red runs so that intermediates can take their pick - if you're up for a challenge, there's also a couple of black runs to explore. While the ski area may not have lots of black-grade slopes, its exceptional off-piste terrain makes it a hidden gem for those seeking adventure beyond the marked slopes.
