When sailing on a Cunard cruise, you know you will be travelling in luxury. This was no different on our recent cruise on the Queen Mary II from Southampton to New York.

Our first impression when boarding was how luxurious and welcoming the Cunard ship was. We stayed in a sheltered balcony cabin and experienced an extremely smooth sailing. It was very easy to forget we were on a cruise.

There was no shortage of activities, starting from 6am and running through until midnight. We had the opportunity to enjoy everything from movies, Zumba and crazy golf to watercolour art classes, bridge lessons, dance classes and needlework. We were provided with daily programme newspaper by Cunard staff to ensure we could plan our time on board well and did not miss out on any experiences.

When we were looking to enjoy a more relaxed pace, we spent some time in the glorious spa and relaxation room, treating ourselves to a facial and massage. The Pavilion was a great location to spend time in the Jacuzzi or pool and sit back and relax, enjoying some quiet time.

The food on the ship was out of this world and we enjoyed a wide selection of dining options in the restaurants. From steak and exquisite service in The Verandah restaurant to delicious fish and chips in the Golden Lion pub, and a mouth-watering range of options in the Kings Court buffet.

The Britannia restaurant, the main dining venue on the QM2, was extremely grand, and the décor, atmosphere, high quality food and fantastic service added a real sense of occasion to our meals.

A very special moment on board was having afternoon tea in the Queen’s Room. This was a true signature Cunard experience and a real must. The Godiva chocolate afternoon tea is pure indulgence. Whether you are a connoisseur or just spoilt for choice, the team was happy to recommend something to delight all the senses.

To end our journey, sailing into New York past the Statue of Liberty was a highlight and a memory I will cherish forever.

The White Star service definitely works - we were constantly made to feel special by the staff with the finishing touches they provided. Every day we were inspired to try something new due to the amount of activities on offer. It is easy to see why Cunard have so many returning passengers.
